World Traveler

My husband, Aaron, and I embarked upon a journey of authentic, long-term travel, which included volunteer and work exchange opportunities and ongoing cultural and language immersion, from August 2016-December 2017. It was an epic, life-altering experience through which we were fortunate to have together. Check out our blog to learn more!

Crochet Hobby-ist & Enthusiast

With fitness gradually growing out of my side-gig and into my primary career focus (from human resources for 8 years), I knew I was going to need a new hobby! In Spring 2016, I took a 3-week beginner crochet course at local yarn shop, Rumplestiltskin, then worked on basic stitches to make scarves and hats. I crocheted while traveling when it was practical and accessible, visiting local yarn shops and making items for people I met, friends/family back home, and myself. I discovered a crochet podcast, BHooked, while house and pet-sitting in London suburbs in Summer 2017, through which I grew in my crochet craft significantly. I learned how to read and follow a written pattern, about the Craft Yarn Council‘s (CYC) Certified Instructor’s program, tips and tricks, etc. I am a Certified Crochet Instructor through the CYC. I cultivated a crochet community by starting a new program in 2019 at the Sacramento Central YMCA through teaching Learn to Crochet classes and hosting Maker Meet-Ups. I periodically participate in local crafter events as a booth vendor and continually crochet items upon request from (and also as gifts for) friends and family. I absolutely love making, sharing, and being a part of the maker and crochet community on Instagram as well; you can connect with me there @enedwardscrochet.
